How to turn your dual-monitor PC into a dual mac-PC system

After searching a while how i could take over my windows xp pc with osx, i found a site called lifehacker with a article about this. After following this how to, i succesfully toke over my windows xp pc with a osx86 install on my laptop.

1. Go buy a Mac mini, Powerbook, iBook, G5 desktop, OSX86 PC

You can't have both platforms on your desk if you don't own two machines. I use my osx86 laptop here. If you don't have a second mouse, buy one too and keep it attached to your mac.

2. Disconnect your second monitor from your PC

It's easiest if you have a dual monitor PC setup because you'd have an extra monitor already and be used to working with multiple screens. I had my office desktop set up like this for about a year before I moved a mac alongside my PC. I would keep productivity apps like email and IM on one window, my "work" apps on the right (coding, photoshop, etc).

3. Attach your second mouse and original keyboard and previously disconnected monitor to your new mac

You'll need to boot it up after you take it out of the box, get it setup and on your network, then you just have to put one essential application on it.

4. Download and install Synergy to your mac

This killer open source app recently got a friendly GUI makeover, available here. Download it, and install it per the instructions. Set it to "Connect to a shared keyboard and mouse" in the General settings and under the Client Configuration, put the internal IP address of your PC. In my case, my PC is 192.168.1.102. It will automatically connect on boot up and when returning from sleep.

5. Download and install Synergy to your PC

Put your keyboard back on your PC (which still has the mouse) and get it booted up. Download the latest version of Synergy for the PC here and install it. Run it and check the "Server" radio button. Hit the Add button to name your Screens. My mac is 192.168.1.101 and is known as mathowie.local on the network. My PC is 192.168.1.102 and I entered mathowie.local for the mac screen and 192.168.1.102 for the PC screen. Click each one after adding, and tell the app what is to the right and left of that monitor. So for my mac, I set the Right to my PC screen, and for the PC, I set my left to the mac Screen name.

There are advanced options to autostart on boot up which you'll want to enable and the Advanced tab will ask for the client name, and I put my IP in there. Hit the big Start button when you're done.

6. Connect the Synergy mac client to the Synergy PC server

If all went well, you should be all ready to go. Using a mouse connected to the mac to highlight the synergy icon in the top bar, and hit enable Synergy in the menu to start the client. If you see the status Connected and a full color blue and green icon with three dots in it, you're connected. Drop the mac mouse and go to your main PC keyboard and mouse, then move it off the screen towards your mac. You should have control of the mouse on the mac now, in a smooth motion across the multiple desktops. Start some apps and move back and for enjoying your new setup.

06/06/06 Today!

Many superstitious people all around the world are terrified with the day that they have to live in this world today – 06/06/06. The day carries the number of the Beast – 666. The day of the Beast stirs up fear and raises concerns in many countries: some women refuse to give birth to their babies today, light-minded people make their stakes on the Internet trying to see if it is going to be the Doom’s Day in the history of the human civilization. Scientists and priests in their turn urge everyone to calm down and brush superstition aside. To add more fuel to the fire, Hollywood producers decided to premiere the remake of the world-known horror film, Omen, which tells the story of anti-Christ, on this very day.

Many Orthodox Christians in Russia have showered deans and priests with questions, begging for help and protection. Many pregnant women asked their doctors if it could be possible for them to delay the delivery of their babies, fearing that they might give birth to anti-Christ.

The devil’s number arouses fear with almost all people worldwide, whether they are religious or not. The USA, for example, has all of its highways numbered, but there is no Highway No. 666 in the States.

The devil is not so black as he is painted, though. The days marked with the number of the beast have brought some positive changes for mankind in the past. For example, deputies of the first Russian State Duma abolished the death penalty law on June 6 1906. Famous tennis player Bjorn Borg was born on June 6 1956, and the blood-thirsty leader of the Kampuchean revolution,Pol Pot, died at a military base of Cambodia on June 6 1996.

Psychologist Nadezhda Aniskova believes that that there is a certain connection between the 6-6-6 dates. “Such days can be extremely difficult for many people. One can notice an outburst of conflicts in families and at work, the number of crimes committed on such days increases as well. However, I would not panic over these facts. Mankind has survived many hundreds of years in which there were many 6-6-6 days. Nothing extraordinary has ever happened,” the psychologist said
“This number has an ill reputation in the Christian world,” specialist of numerology Alexander Rogned said. “Six as a number means responsibility in the science of numbers. As for the number 666, it can be interpreted as follows. Three sixes summed up altogether give 18. This number in its turn gives 9: 1+8=9. Nine means “ a human being ” in numerology. Three sixes mean something different in other countries. 666 can be interpreted as the number of the Sun. Egyptians associated this number with ancient god Serapis,” the scientist said.

Astrologer Pavel Globa shares a similar opinion. “It would be purely superstitious to expect something extraordinary or supernatural from the day. Number six is the sacred number for such ancient cultures as the Chinese culture for instance. The Chinese view this number as the number of world harmony. To crown it all, it is ridiculous to see the devil's number in our Julian calendar. It will be the 24th of May on the Gregorian calendar,” the astrologer said.

People have developed numerous theories from number 666 trying to see what or who is encoded in the triad. Roman Emperor Nero, kings Karl X and Karl XI, Emperor Peter I, Napoleon, Vladimir Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, the Pope – all these people have been classified as anti-Christs in their times. Someone even managed to ascribe Bill Gates and Mikhail Gorbachev to the number of the Beast.
